  • Hoof Boots mould and adapt to the unique geometry of a horses feet with use. If you purchase Hoof Boots secondhand, they may already be adjusted to a different horses feet, and may not fit your horse, despite the manufacturer’s size guide suggesting they will. We always recommend requesting a Fitting Appointment or Online Fitting with us, and ordering from our Online Store, to ensure your horse experiences the best fit and riding experience.

    If you purchase Hoof Boots secondhand, you’re likely to not be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty. By ordering Hoof Boots from our Online Store, you will enjoy peace of mind with a manufacturer’s warranty for the majority of our brands.

    If you decide to purchase secondhand Hoof Boots or new Hoof Boots elsewhere after an Online Fitting or Fitting Appointment with The Hoof Boot Shop or approved Fitting Partner, we won’t be able to exchange or accept a return for a refund. Please contact the seller or store you purchased your Hoof Boots from for guidance.

    Fitting Appointments with The Hoof Boot Shop are non-refundable. If you decide to purchase Hoof Boots elsewhere and they don’t fit, you will not be eligible for a refund for your Fitting Appointment, as our expert advice and product recommendations are determined using our manufacturer Fitting Kits, and are based on brand new, unused Hoof Boots.

  • If your horses hooves grow out of their natural shape and balance, keep the hooves in shape by more frequent trimming.

    We suggest checking if the hooves need trimming every time you pick them. It’s important to avoid trimming more than your horses anatomy requires. Ask your farrier, barefoot trimmer or equine podiatrist to show you how to do a trim on your horse between their visits.

  • There are many considerations that determine the product lifespan of your Hoof Boots; how the horse moves, how fast the horse travels, how often the Hoof Boots are used, what kind of terrain they’re used on, whether the owner is frequently trimming the hooves etc.

    To preserve the lifespan of your Hoof Boots, we recommend using Hoof Boots for general activities, and not for intense use cases, such as horse racing or hunting.

  • Yes, Hoof Boots are a great option for rocky terrain. Hoof Boots offer better shock absorption, resulting in a more comfortable experience for your horse.

  • Yes, Hoof Boots are a great option for snowy conditions. Hoof Boots offer better shock absorption, resulting in a more comfortable experience for your horse, and limits the potential for snow compaction between the Hoof Boot and sole.

  • Hoof Boots are not designed to be worn over metal shoes, and doing so will void your warranty with The Hoof Boot Shop and the manufacturer.

  • Yes, Cavallo or Equine Fusion Hoof Boots are suitable for 24/7 turnout, especially if your horse is prone to running around or is kept in a large area.

    Please note that using Hoof Boots for 24/7 turnout voids your warranty with The Hoof Boot Shop and the manufacturer.

  • Hoof Boots are used successfully for rehabilitation, treating all kinds of pathologies, like inflammation, disease, infection and injury of the hoof and lower limb.

  • Our Hoof Boots are sold without studs, but you can buy studs separately and attach them to a variety of Hoof Boots we sell.

    Studs are great for icy conditions, or when you need some extra grip.

  • If your Hoof Boots are the correct size for your horse, you should not experience any rubbing. Hoof Boots are designed to be soft and conforming to the hoof capsule. We offer Hoof Boots with additional Neoprene Gaiter options to prevent any rubbing you might experience from extended use.

  • If your Hoof Boots are twisting on your horse’s hoof, they’re either too big or unsuitable for the hoof shape.

    Twisting between 5-10 degrees is considered normal and does not require attention.

  • Hoof Boots stay on very well through mud when they’re the correct size, with a well trimmed hoof and correct strap adjustments.

  • Please request an Online Fitting with us within the first 2 weeks after a trim.

  • Some of our Hoof Boots have a sleek/shiny surface on the inside, which can contribute to slipping. We recommend removing this surface with fine sandpaper to provide more grip.

    If your Hoof Boots continue to twist considerably or fall off, they may be too big for your horses hoof.

  • We do not recommend using Hoof Boots for intense use cases, such as Horse Racing, Hunting or Polo.

    Using Hoof Boots for these activities will void your warranty with The Hoof Boot Shop and the manufacturer.

    We do not accept these use cases as examples of intended use when requesting an Online Fitting or Fitting Appointment.

  • We recommend storing Hoof Boots in an open, airy environment, such as outside your stable or in an open barn.

    We don’t recommend storing Hoof Boots in direct sunlight, closed containers, next to heat sources or in consistent minus temperatures.
